Welcome to SMRTETA.
SMRTETA is the brainchild of me, the Other Geoff (loose definition of brain, heavy reliance on child).
I’ve been an Arsenal fan since the early 80’s and have been blogging about the Arsenal for the last couple of years. Most recently, you could find me blogging for, editing and running the blogs section for the award winning Arsenal web site, A Bergkamp Wonderland.
Don’t be fooled – I’m not that bright.
When you take on something like that, as exciting and rewarding as it can be, sometimes you just want to get back to writing.
This is my site where I can goof off; where I can write for the sake of it and enjoy myself.
I hope you stop by from time to time and enjoy yourself right along with me. Along with some semi-regular blogs, I’ve already had many friends offer bits and bobs to get us through the long season.
Thanks for stopping by,
OG
What’s in a name?
Like everything on this site, the name SMRTETA shouldn’t be taken too seriously. I’m pretty much as tongue and cheek as they come and the name of the site is a reflection of that.
SMRTETA blends the word “Smart” and the infamous Arsenal defensive midfielder/captain’s name, “Arteta.” This is obviously very punny and way too intelligent for what I was going for. The elimination of the “A” is, of course, a nod to The Simpsons, and also should serve notice that I’m not as clever as I think I am.
